Vocational Nursing Career Training

Combining classroom learning with hands-on clinical lab experience, our program can prepare you to deliver direct care to patients under the supervision of a physician or registered nurse. Through comprehensive vocational nursing education at Kaplan College, you could gain experience performing nursing duties that include:

  • Data collection
  • Basic bedside nursing
  • Wound management
  • Medication administration and documentation
  • Patient education

Vocational Nursing Occupational Outcomes

By earning a diploma from our vocational nursing program, you may pursue entry-level positions such as:

  • Acute care staff nurse
  • Home health nurse
  • Licensed vocational nurse (after passing state exam)
  • Long-term care charge or staff nurse
  • Phlebotomy/blood bank nurse
  • Public school LVN/health clerk

Nursing Licensure Preparation

This program is also designed to help eligible students prepare for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) for licensure as a vocational/practical nurse.

A student's eligibility may depend on his or her work experience, completion of high school (or its equivalent), not having a criminal record, meeting other licensure or certification requirements, or the program or School itself having appropriate accreditation or licensure. Certification or licensure can provide an additional credential for obtaining employment in the field; in some instances, certification or licensure may be required for employment in certain locations. Successful completion of this program may enable graduates to take a certification or licensure examination, such as the following:
