History of Kaplan College in Bakersfield, CA

Kaplan College, Bakersfield campus was founded in 1982 as the California Academy of Merchandising, Art, and Design in Sacramento, CA. Having outgrown its current space and name by 1999, the Academy was renamed California College of Technology and relocated to accommodate new programs. In January 2003, California College of Technology changed its name to California College. One year later, in March 2004, the college opened a branch campus in Bakersfield and changed its name to Maric College. In August 2008, the Maric College campuses became Kaplan College.
