Financial Aid for Non-U.S. Citizens
Kaplan University is pleased to offer international students the opportunity to
earn an American postsecondary degree or certificate online.
Financial aid sources for foreign students studying at U.S. schools are limited.
However, some options are available:
 |
Aid from your home country
Contact the cultural section of your country’s embassy or ministry of education
to inquire about financial aid options. Many nations require that you remain in
your home country after graduation. Private organizations willing to provide
funding may also exist. |
| |
Aid from the U.S. government
The majority of U.S. government financial assistance, including Pell Grants,
Stafford Loans, PLUS loans and work-study programs, is not offered to
international students. The U.S. government does provide aid to students from
specific countries—you can get more information from your embassy or the U.S.
State Department. |
| |
Assistance from your family
According to the U.S. Journal of Academics, over two-thirds of international
students use their own and their families’ personal funds to cover most of the
costs of their education. |
| |
Bank loans
Third-party funding sources may be available to students from outside agencies. Students are encouraged to seek such funding and familiarize themselves with the policies of such agencies. Although the University will assist students in completing necessary forms and will provide any required information to the agency, it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to ensure the agency’s requirements are met. Students and, when applicable, their parents have the
right and ability to choose any lender they wish, and the University does not require that any loans be obtained from any particular lender or source. |
